Every once in a while I come across something which totally blows me away (usually on the great blog Printeresting). Tom Huck’s linocut print series ‘The Hillbilly Kama Sutra‘ is one of those things. He describes it as ‘fifteen linoleum cuts, all hillbillies having horrible sex in horrible situations with horrible outcomes’. What more could you ask for?! Huck is inspired by the master printmakers of yore, in this case specifically Hans Holbein’s Dance of Death series.

The Hillbilly Kama Sutra took Huck two years to complete and comes in a bespoke portfolio made out of red velvet-lined wood panelling with a brown paper porno bag on the inside. It is available to buy for $11,500 and each portfolio contains a 15th mystery print which is otherwise unavailable to buy. It is printed in an edition of just 20.
Here’s one of the prints from the series. You can view the rest here but you might want to do it out of work time and not in front of the children.

Here is a video featuring Huck talking about the series with some footage of the carving and printing of the lino blocks (look out for his customised Japanese carving tool and printing press!)
