I’m running two linocut workshops this summer, in Montefiore, Italy and in London. For more details, visit my workshops page. Here are some photos from last year’s workshop in Italy to whet your appetite. The workshops take place in the castle in the last photo.
Yesterday I ran my first workshop for some Margate friends at Hello Print Studio. It felt amazing to finally have the space and equipment to teach printmaking again.
I’ve been busy setting up a new printmaking studio in Margate called Hello Print Studio. Together with Emrys Plant I will be running workshops, hosting artist residencies and offering facilities to local artists who work in print. We now have an etching press, vacuum printing table, washout sink, uv exposure unit, drying rack, etching sink […]
I’m excited to announce I have a new film out. It was filmed and edited by Hazeleigh Prebble, a talented filmmaker based in Margate. We spent three days filming and Hazeleigh put his heart and soul into editing it into the coolest linocut documentary ever. Well the coolest one I’ve ever seen, anyway.
Jackson’s Art Supplies are currently offering 10% off linocut supplies. I particularly recommend the Swiss Pfeil carving tools, which I use myself. They are usually £12.20 each (inc VAT) which is the cheapest I’ve found, but now they are just £10.98 each, which is an absolute steal! They also have quite a nice looking sharpening […]
My deep sea diver print is finally finished! It’s the first multi-coloured linocut I’ve made for ages, and the biggest. I’ve made bigger prints, like the T-Rex and Dodo, but used screenprint for the colours on those. This time I had to print and register seven separate lino blocks. Below is a photo showing the […]
I have lots of linocut workshops, exhibitions and other events coming up in Margate and London in the next few weeks. This weekend I’m running linocut printing workshops at Turner Contemporary and Fort’s Cafe. Then next week it’s the East London Printmakers open studio in Hackney followed by my pop-up Anti-Christmas Shop and Satan’s Grotto […]
I try to make my own Christmas cards each year, though I’m usually so busy with fairs and the like that I never get round to it. This year I was determined though and here it is, my skeleton reindeer. If you want to buy some you can find them on my Etsy shop. Big […]
If you’re carving lino all day here’s a top tip. Wrap masking tape round the tool where your finger rests. If you wind it round several times you get a nice soft pad. This will prevent you getting blisters. Don’t say I’m not good to you.
My linocut of a deep sea diver is coming along. I’m going to try and finish it this week and also to finish the film I have been making of my working process, from carving the block through to printing. I am still trying out colour combinations and deciding whether to add fish to the […]
